The Johnny Cash Project

My mother doesn't really like classic country so we never really listened to it around the house or in the car growing up. I knew who Johnny Cash was but I didn't really get turned on to all his music until college. I remember riding to a party with a friend Gene and he was listening to his greatest hits I think. I now am in love with Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash both and listen to their music often.

Aaron Kobin has created software that creates an artistic project by sifting through data. I don't really understand the ins and outs, but I always don't really care that much to investigate. Let's just say I appreciate his projects for what they are and am not looking to much into the process.

The Johnny Cash Project
I watched the video first when I probably should have looked at the About section first!  The images are created by anyone and everyone.  If you want to contribute you are given a couple shots to choose from and then you can draw the image in on the webpage and submit it.

Update: The website seems to be down so here is the video from Youtube

Low Income Houses

Dan Phillips builds low income houses with families from salvaged materials. The houses are pretty cool and have a folk art vibe to them since a large part of the materials are reused. He started Phoenix Commotion which is a local building initiative.

I came across the following video through a suggestion on Youtube while watching a video on Texas Tiny Houses. The Dan Phillips video is from the 90s and not the best quality, but was pretty interesting when they showed the 2 story house he was building with a single mother and her payment was less than $200 a month and the loan was for 7 years!!!

Why do I love remakes of 80's hits so much?

I don't really know, but they can be awesome!  I am also a little worried about how I am pretty sure I got every 80's movie referenced in the video.  I may have watched to much TV as a child!

Taste of Place

One of these days I will make it to Mamou for Mardi Gras, but until then I will just have to keep finding these little gems on the web!  I am not sure why there are only four videos about Louisiana cooking when the chef is from Louisiana and like 20 about California! WTH!  The recipes from all the featured states still look good.  I won't hold it against him.
