Politifact reviews statements made by politicians to see if they are true or not! It does take into account varying degrees of truthfulness which is helpful and some of the statements they pick are interesting.
Barely True
"We're also cutting a Forest Service economic development program that strayed so far from any mission that it funded a music festival."-Barak Obama
Half-True
"Thomas Jefferson created the Marines for the Islamic pirates that were happening."-Glenn Beck
Found this fun website through Federal Daily newsletter which had a brief "Feds Make Twice As Much? Really?" in response to Senator Scott Brown's statement that federal employees make twice as much as private sector. The Truth-O-Meter finds this False!

Plugged in Online
Apparently there was some controversy about the Tebow commercial during the Super Bowl last night (Yeah Saints!). I didn't hear about it until this morning and didn't really get why from the commercial so I had to go look up the Focus on the Family website mentioned at the end of the commercial. I don't really get worked up about messages like this because I think when you look at the source take things with a grain of salt. I couldn't resist clicking on the website mentioned at the bottom of the page though. There was a link to Plugged in Online that reviews entertainment. The reviews are pretty harsh at times which make them amusing to me.
Review comments from Legion:
" It is so bad that it could kill monkeys."
" It is so bad it should come with a surgeon general's warning—and a government tax for causing cancer."
"Legion is nothing more than the reckless musings of someone who knows about as much about the Bible as I know about macroeconomics."
Dude this review makes me want to see the movie even more!

Mental Floss Rocks
There Lunch Time Quizzes are usually interesting and today's quiz was about The National Parks. I managed to score 8 out 10! Woohoo! I don't always score that good and after this post I am going to go try the Catholic Saint or New Orleans Saint? which I am probably not going to do good on!

My favorite drink turns 125!
The first thing I asked for when I got back to the US after spending a couple weeks in Guatemala was a Dr Pepper. After my mom picked my up at the airport our first stop was Sonic! Sonic Dr Pepper with cherry is super yummy and probably my favorite drink. Who knew that Dr Pepper is 125 years old! I found out during my perusal of Pop Candy Blog today.

Check out the Dr Pepper Timeline!

Angel Dog
I need a feel good story after the last one with the tattooing parents.
Family's 'Angel' dog saves boy from cougar attack
An 18-month old golden retriever puppy named Angel saved her 11-year old owner Austin from a cougar attack on Saturday. After the mother called for help a constable quickly arrived at their home and shot the cougar. Angel survived with bites and scratches and has received a good prognosis.

The Polar Bear Song
This may be the cutest global warming song ever! It gets a little sad towards the end, but I now heart Bjorn. Rock on Tom Rugg!

Work Sets You Free
I hope they catch whoever did this. This is probably one of the most well know symbols of the Holocaust. It is crazy to think that someone would be able to steal this!

Science Tattoos
I really like tattoos so I am always drawn in to pictures of them. They be cringe worthy and make me wonder why on earth someone would get that permanently inked on their body or beautiful, artistic examples of self expression. Science Tattoo Emporium Blog has pictures of tattoos that are all connected in someway to science. I don't know what some of them are (ok alot of them), but they are pretty cool.

1 in 4 mortgages 'underwater'
Research released in September says that 10.7 million homes are "underwater" meaning that what is owed is more than the house is worth. Another 2.3 million homes are within 5% of being underwater. That is 28% of all residential housing according to the article in CNN Money. WTF? I don't know who is more to blame the bank industry for making these loans or the people who signed on the dotted line. If they didn't understand what they were getting into they shouldn't have signed the papers! If the government is going to take care of all their problems then I think they should do the same for student loans!

Vanish
"Writer Evan Tried to Vanish: Here's What Happened"
This writer for Wired apparently wrote an article on a man who vanished and then decided to try and do it himself. He had two months to plan this out before disappearing and probably would have succeeded if he wasn't following some of the groups on Facebook trying to track him down! Apparently he couldn't handle being on his own for that long and started slipping. Hopefully he never witnesses a crime and they put him in witness protection because he will not last!

Sagada's Hanging Cemetery
I can't really tell you how I ended up at Atlas Obscura, but it is an interesting site. One place I had never heard of was Sagada, Philippines Hanging Cemetery. It is apparently tradition for the residents to hand carve coffins and hang them on the side of a cave either inside or outside.

100 Strangers
100 Strangers Project
Hmm, I am thinking of trying this project. The goal is take a hundred photos of people you don't know. Maybe this would be easier than Belinda's 365 Project!
