"Your Stripper Name Should Be Stormy"

A few people (like 2) have posted the Vinyl Windows are Great! video on their Facebook today. It made me go back and track the video to the creators website Building Revival which I am totally digging just because of the names of their different sections. Like Barn Porn and Houses Gone Wilde just to name two. The newest barn post is about a round barn in Montana that is kick ass! It doesn't seem to be the most navigable site, but the post are interesting and I like how the guy writes. The title for this post I pulled out of his post It's Time to Start (Weather)stripping.

History of Rap Pt.3

I don't know why I am so amused by two white guys who are not rappers rapping, but it makes me smile!

76 Slaves...

is how many I have working for me according to the Slavery Footprint. It looks to me to be modeled after the carbon footprint calculators and uses your answers to specific questions to calculate the number of "slaves" you have working for you.  My seems to be higher than average, but that is probably because of all my electronics and jeans! I don't know how they factor in replacement of items so that may have made mine high since I tend to hold on to things for years.

To Save Day Light or Not?

I was perusing the Morning Cup O' Links on Mental Floss and came across a link to this video explaining Day Light Savings Time.

Lioness Rescues Cub

This was the cutest thing ever! From the pictures it appears the cub fell over a cliff or something and the Mama climbs down and rescues it.  So freaking cute! I tried embeding one of the photos, but it was to much work and I gave up.

Are You Worried About a Zombie Apocalypse?

Well don't fear because from reading the extensive articles on the subject (I looked at 2) if you are prepared for any disaster you are probably covered for zombies! You may just need to add some weapons for protection from the undead. Below are the two articles I glanced at.

Preparedness 101: Zombie Apolcalypse, CDC
How to survice a zombie apocalypse, CNN Money

I am not really sure why CNN Money has a article on zombies, but whatever.  It talks about cross bows which are awesome! Between the earthquake video I posted yesterday and the advice for zombies I think I need to work on my Bug Out Bag and Bug Out Vehicle. They need to be in place for any man made or natural disasters. Do you think a zombie apocalypse would be man made or natural?

Freaky! The video was provided by the National Park Service and don't try and fix your computer because it doesn't have any sound!

PETA launching a Porn Website

Yes, that is right the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have requested a .xxx domain! I think they believe this will appeal to a new audience and that they are already producing racey images that will find a good home here.  WTF? Who thought this was a good idea? They were a little to out there for me before this, but I think this is the icing on the cake.  I don't have a problem with their message, I just think sometimes they try to convey is a disturbing manner to garner attention. For additional information check out the Huffington Post's article PETA'S Porn Website to Promote Explicit Photos that also include images that are most like NSFW.

Heading Down South to the Land of the Pines

I love these guys and was so happy I finally got to see them in NOLA in April at their last show for the  Railroad Revival Tour. Ketch Secor talks a little slow in the video sometimes, but I still love their music and this is a good taste of their music.

History of Rap Part 2 with Justin Timberlake

The white guy dance moves are awesome! This made me laugh.

Curse you NBC (imagine me shaking my fist)! I was just trying to bring bright spot to people's day! NBC made Youtube take the clip down and it is available on NBC.com, but now you have to watch a commercial first.

Coolest Chicken Coop Ever

I keep thinking I may want some yard chickens, but then I worry about snakes so I keep going back and forth on the issues.  I came across a website called Backyard Chickens today which has all these cool coops that people have built.  I would never build one that elaborate especially as I have a million other projects to do that I can't find time or money for, but it never hurts to dream!

Who will take care of your pets after the Rapture?

I know I am a little late here, but since the Rapture didn't actually happen this last Saturday I think I am good.  I know that people are already predicting the next Rapture so you better get prepared now!  If you think the Rapture is going to come and take you and wonder what is going to happen to your pets no need to worry because there are companies that will take care of them.  After the Rapture Pet Care has a registry for the low fee of $10 that you can register your pets and the non-believers left behind will care for your pets! The guy who created the website is very serious in tone.  I don't want to be mean and say what I really think, but I will add that the t-shirts they are also selling are freaking hilarious! This is either the best joke ever or a very kooky person.

Downfall of iTunes!

I freaking am falling in love with Amazon's MP3 store! For the last year iTunes has had a problem getting my card to match my address which I have tried to update with every address I have had for the last 10 years (which is a lot!) and it still doesn't work right. Amazon on the other had has never had an issue and you can purchase music to play on any music player!  Apple you are falling behind here.  You may have been the biggest and best, but I really don't think your products are that great anymore.  Not to mention that Amazon has great music samplers for free or next to nothing!

Lost Highway 10th Anniversary Sampler
$4.99 with songs from Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams and Johnny Cash to name a few!

Don't Mess with Texas: SXSW 2011 New Music Sampler
It's freaking free and has some cool jams!

Amazon has other things going for it like the Cloud Music Player, but I won't get into all of that. I haven't explored all the possibilities with it so I can't really comment.

The Johnny Cash Project

My mother doesn't really like classic country so we never really listened to it around the house or in the car growing up. I knew who Johnny Cash was but I didn't really get turned on to all his music until college. I remember riding to a party with a friend Gene and he was listening to his greatest hits I think. I now am in love with Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash both and listen to their music often.

Aaron Kobin has created software that creates an artistic project by sifting through data. I don't really understand the ins and outs, but I always don't really care that much to investigate. Let's just say I appreciate his projects for what they are and am not looking to much into the process.

The Johnny Cash Project
I watched the video first when I probably should have looked at the About section first!  The images are created by anyone and everyone.  If you want to contribute you are given a couple shots to choose from and then you can draw the image in on the webpage and submit it.

Update: The website seems to be down so here is the video from Youtube

Low Income Houses

Dan Phillips builds low income houses with families from salvaged materials. The houses are pretty cool and have a folk art vibe to them since a large part of the materials are reused. He started Phoenix Commotion which is a local building initiative.

I came across the following video through a suggestion on Youtube while watching a video on Texas Tiny Houses. The Dan Phillips video is from the 90s and not the best quality, but was pretty interesting when they showed the 2 story house he was building with a single mother and her payment was less than $200 a month and the loan was for 7 years!!!

Why do I love remakes of 80's hits so much?

I don't really know, but they can be awesome!  I am also a little worried about how I am pretty sure I got every 80's movie referenced in the video.  I may have watched to much TV as a child!

Taste of Place

One of these days I will make it to Mamou for Mardi Gras, but until then I will just have to keep finding these little gems on the web!  I am not sure why there are only four videos about Louisiana cooking when the chef is from Louisiana and like 20 about California! WTH!  The recipes from all the featured states still look good.  I won't hold it against him.

Lunch Bag

Subway's kid meal comes in a reuseable lunch bag that is super cute! The sign said they were National Geographic bags, but the workers seemed a little confused and they only had "one's with planes". This one reminded me of the hours long trips to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum with my Pop so I went for the kids meal anyway.

Bat Sh*t Crazy

I really, really hate to jump on the band wagon and post anything about Charlie Sheen, but the dude is in a downward spiral and is going to crash and burn.  He is in need of some serious help if he does want to kill himself before the year is out. All the people who say he is a wonderful person and blah, blah, blah doesn't mean he is not is self destruct mode. Funny or Die usually has some good videos.  This Charlie Sheen is really not a good example of one of their better ones.  It probably would have been funny if he didn't look like he was on death's door step.

SurvivalStraps For Soldiers Care Package

I was reading How to Make a Bug Out Bag: Your 72-Hour Emergency Evacuation Survival Kit on the The Art of Manliness because I am kinda secretly think there is someday going to be an apocalypse which will be a Terminator/The Road/Red Dawn event. I also and going to begin researching the best location for escaping said event and acquiring some property there. Plus I liked the back pack the guy was using for his B.O.B. and I am looking for something for my trip to Alaska.  That led me to Willow Haven Outdoor and the full article by Creek Stewart.  WHO I just had to spend some time looking around at after I saw a preview of his Bug Out Vehicle which is a '72 Ford Bronoc.  Hell Yeah!  I freaking love old Broncos and am constantly dreaming that I can one day purchase one for me! I then found the Paracord Survival Bracelets which they are selling on their site.

I totally think I need one of these and am again going to use the excuse of the trip to Alaska.  The chance that I would need it would totally be slim to none, but they are still cool.  Since I was to lazy to go find how much they were on the WHO site I just googled them and found the Survival Straps who make the bracelets.  While looking at the different ones I came across the Survival Straps for Soldiers Care Package you can order to be sent to a soldier of you choice or a random one if you don't have someone in mind.  So my plan now is to send one to a soldier before I order something I totally don't need for myself for a trip where no survival skills are really needed!  Really I am going to order one.

PS This randomness is how my life and minds goes everyday. Scary

Not Saying Grace

"I once choked a chupacabra to death for not saying grace."

Howlin' for You looks completely cheesy, but I will probably watch it anyway if for no other reason than the above quote.  I had to check and make sure it was not a Quentin Tarantino movie half way through the trailer because it really looked like something he would do.

You Are a Monkey

Neatorama had a post about Big Legal Brain's review of the Swingline 747 Business Stapler. The only reason I read it was because it reminded me Office Space. Unfortunately in my five second scan of the article there was no mention of Office Space. I am thinking of ordering the stapler though because it is red.

Big Legal Brain has a post Stop Being a Monkey which was funny.  The following disclaimer is from there.

Disclaimer: If you are not the intended recipient of this message, then we will kill you. If you inform us that you did not read this, we will still kill you. We will kill you even if you destroy this. Bottom line: you’re dead. Today is not your day.

Mormon Housewife Blogs

Apparently there is a weird attraction to Mormon Housewife Blogs.  I didn't even know there was a lot of blogs out there written by Mormon housewifes, but I shouldn't be surprised.  You can find anything on the internet!  There is article on Salon by Emily Matchar Why I can't stop reading Mormon housewife blogs that was interesting.  I went and read some of the blogs mentioned in the article and they all kinda sounded the same and were annoying so I am pretty sure I can stop reading the blogs.  The article on Salon was more interesting than the blogs themselves.

Side Notes:

Five days after having my wisdom teeth out I have decided to follow the doctors diet so my gaping holes may have a chance to heal.  It is not working so well.  The cream of potato soup for lunch was especially yummy after I added green onions, bacon bits, and cheese.  Everything is better with cheese though.

I think I have a problem with hand washing.  While heating soup mentioned above and adding the prepackaged extras I think I washed my hands like 6 times.  Wtf?

Humpy

"It's like Middle Earth, except the hobbits are humpy with fake tans."

This is the best line I have ever seen describing a tv show, especially Jersey Shore! I am not exactly sure what humpy is, but I am sure I could guess.

Home

I think I actually felt my ovaries contracting watching this video!  They are so freaking cute and it doesn't hurt that I was obsessed with this song at the end of last year. I am now going to go listen to the whole song.

Parenting Taboos

Interesting and funny!

The Apocalypse is coming to Arkansas!

Last week there was a massive fish kill in the Arkansas River where an estimated 100,000 drum fish were found in a 20 mile stretch of the river and 5,000 birds fell out of the sky on New Year's Eve! Both of these events happened northwest of Little Rock, AR.  Maybe that crappy movie with Hilary Swank in Louisiana about the plagues should really have taken place in Arkansas.  The movie was so crappy I can't remember the name.
