I am so ready for this!

There is a trailer out for X-Men Origins: Wolverine! Wolverine is my favorite characters from the movie and this movie has my other favorite character from the comic Gambit in it! Gambit hasn't been in a movie yet so I am super excited. This is when my inner geek comes out and giddily dances around.

Another Cute Baby

ZooBorns also has a section on pygmy Marmoset. How can anything be cuter or smaller than this? It is not possible!

Cutest Ugly Baby in the World!

Amani, the baby aardvark, was born December 8th at the Detroit Zoo. It is almost enough to make me want to go to Detroit!

The story is from ZooBorns which may be the cutest site in the world.

Light the Tree

For a little Christmas fun here is a game lighting a tree. This was the most lighting I have got in this year since I was a scrooge and didn't get around to a tree.

Human Marvels

I ran across this today in one of those internet adventures where you follow a bunch of links and come across something unexpected, but wonderful! The site managed to draw me in and while creeping me out I couldn't stop reading the stories.

Human Marvels

Festivus for the Rest of Us

I have been sadly lacking in holiday cheer this year and I am not sure why. I have been down town twice for fireworks and Christmas lights, but I guess I am just not ready. Although in a effort to get in the mood I am blogging about super cool gingerbread houses! The look better then most of the models from my architecture student days so it is kinda amazing.

Alphabet Blocks

A Young Mad Scientist's First Alphabet Blocks

For some reason I think these would be more interesting for adults than for little kids, but they are still cool! I included the list of meanings for each letter because I didn't know what some of them were.

A complete list of the images represented by the letters is as follows:
A - Appendages
B - Bioengineering
C - Caffeine
D - Dirigible
E - Experiment
F - Freeze ray
G - Goggles
H - Henchmen
I - Invention
J - Jargon
K - Potassium
L - Laser
M - Maniacal
N - Nanotechnology
O - Organs
P - Peasants (with Pitchforks)
Q - Quantum physics
R - Robot
S - Self-experimentation
T - Tentacles
U - Underground Lair
V - Virus
W - Wrench
X - X-Ray
Y - You, the Mad Scientist of Tomorrow
Z - Zombies

Price: $39.95

As if there is no conquences to that

This is the weirdest video I have seen lately. It is Susan Powter (from "Stop the Insanity", shaved head, weightloss craze days) advocating eating organic pears. She nows has hair and tatts, but she still scares me!

Perfect Christmas Ornament!

How can you beat a turducken ornament! I forget sometimes that not everyone knows about weird Louisiana things. A turducken is a holiday (Cajun maybe?) treat. It is basically a a turkey stuffed with a duck that is stuffed with a chicken. The order gives you the name tur (turkey) duck (duck) en (chicken). We had one at our office holiday party a few years ago. The folks responsible for it went to riduculous lengths to get an authentic turducken. I was slightly unimpressed. It was the first time I could remember eating duck and it was not my favorite fowl. There is also some type of stuffing between each bird. We had broccoli and cheese or something similar to that to meet the dietary needs of another person in the office. I don't know if it made it better or worse since that is the only kind I have had.

Passive Agressive Notes

I know I have been responsible for probably more than one note in my lifetime, but I still find these funny! I think my favorites have to be the multiple notes that get more and more disturbing with each note or the random one that people put in public. It makes me sad to think that I did not get a picture of the crazy political guy on a street corner in San Antonio two years ago that was holding a sign that said "Feed Al Gore to the Polar Bears."

100 Skills Every Man Should Know

100 Skills Every Man Should Know: 2008's Ultimate DIY List

This list was put together by the intelligent guys at Popular Mechanics. I say that tongue in cheek because if someone knew how to do all this I am pretty sure they would be a robot!

Few of my favorites:
6. Conquer an off-road obstacle
11. Reverse hypothermia
15. Use a sewing machine
18. Remove bloodstains from fabric
29. Use a French knife (I don't even know what a French knife is?!)
34. Fell a tree
39. Change a diaper

New Underworld Trailer

I love the movie Underworld and it is one of those movies that I can watch at almost anytime, but I am not sure about the new one. It is set during the time when Lycans were the slaves for the vampires so alot of the characters from the 1st movie are around. Kate Beckinsdale is not in the new movie which doesn't really bother me, but the new girl is the one marries Lucian (Lycan leader). In the first Underworld movie Lucian's memories are transferred to Selene and it is revealed that her death is the reason for all the fighting now. So that kinda already gives away the ending on the newest movie which sucks. Although the new movie does look interesting on its own. Check out the trailer for the movie.

Nooooooo

Another blog I follow, Dark Style, posted today that The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is slated to turned into a hotel. The sanatorium is supposedly haunted and you can actually pay to go spend the night there! How cool is that! I learned about the sanatorium during Belinda and I's foray into ghost hunting. While we did not actually go ghost hunting we did attend the ghost hunting conference in Texas last year. We are both pretty skeptical so it was not surprising we only made it half a day before sneeking out to go explore the town and local cemeteries. Anyway, a group that presented showed video of the sanatorium from when they had spent the night there a couple months before. At the time for $1000 you could spend the night. Which to my way of thinking getting 10 people to kick in $100 and spending the night there is totally worth it. Unfortunately, I also know most of my friends are wusses and are totally not up for that. Now however you can make reservations to stay the night there and it is $100 bucks a person! So if anyone is up to visiting March 2009 let me know so we can plan a trip!

Pumpkin Carving!

HEHEHE! I get to play with knives! Last night was the second annual pumpkin carving festivities at my house. When I was speed cleaning before everyone arrived I realized I haven't really completed a project since the first pumpkin carving which was kinda depressing. Anyway, quickly moving on we ate spaghetti and meatballs, watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie not the tv show), carved some pumpkins, and after the lighting took a quick turn around the cememtery. Realized walking in the cemetery at night with a 3 year old can be a little scary for them although in my defense it was not my idea for her to go! I think she will mentally survive unscathed.

Full of Awesome Awesomeness

BWE has this video in their blog and I was reeled into by the description. I am not up on christian rock, but this lady has some cool moves. Sarah Schaefer is part of BWE and I want to know how long it took her to choreograph the chair dance? I am still unsure why the song sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks are singing it.

Drive-In Theaters Rock!

When I was little there was a drive-in theater down the road from my grandparents place and we used to go there all the time. We also used to go when we visited our family up in Trout Run. I guess because my family is big it was a cheap way to entertain everyone. Anyway they have apparently been around for 75 years and are now seeing a resurgence in popularity! Yeah!

And Bride Makes 20!

A Duggar Family Wedding Expands Brood to 20

For some reason my friends and I love keeping up with the Duggars. That wacky family in Arkansas who is trying to populate the earth all by themselves. Well for all of those who had their heart set on the oldest Josh I am sorry to say he just got married. He met his wife at a home-school convention and courted her for the last two years. So while she makes the 20 member of the family she will not be the newest for long as Michelle Duggar is expecting her number 18 in January!

Talk Like a Pirate

How did I miss Talk Like a Pirate Day? It is one of my favorite days and I totally missed! (I may be exagerating on the whole favorite thing, but I do love it!) I am going home to cry now because this is to much. I also am blaming my friends because I saw a bunch of the on Friday and no one said anything:(

Happy Birthday Waldo

It is Where's Waldo 21st Birthday! Maybe they will do a special book where you find him in bars! The Where's Waldo site has some fun games and you can go search for him and nine million other people or items in the picture. I don't know if things have changed or I didn't do it right as a child, but I do not remember the long list of other things to find. And then you are supposed to find people in a crowd who I have no idea what they look like! I think I need a refresher book.

Oh yeah and you can also add Waldo as a friend on Myspace and some other sites!

Trailers and Flooded Cemeteries

While browsing This Old House on-line I came across a video on installing skylights which I checked out because Andy keeps asking me about them. To the side they have similar topics and one of them was question on installing skylights in their mobile home. That's right I am talking about trailers! And it gets better it is not just one trailer it is actually 2 trailers side by side with roof over them! I had to go back and check if they were from the south, but surprisingly they are not. Even more surprising was that TOH answered the questions seriously.

On a sad note their is an article on FOXNews about a flooded cemetery in Texas. They actually have several images which seems to be a rarity after Hurricane Ike.

While I sit here eating cheese fries...

I am entertaining myself looking around the internet. I have been trying to find a copy of Shirley Manson's "Samson and Delilah" from the Season 2 premiere of Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles. After a little searching I found out it will be on the soundtrack coming out in a couple weeks. There is a good blog post by Bear McCreary about pulling this together. Anyway I will just have to get my fix of the song from the show until it comes out. Check out the video below!

Hurricane Gustav

I made it through the storm with just some downed limbs. Besides the limbs the electric was out overnight with sucked and a couple hours the next day. Otherwise made it through it pretty well.

When the electric went out I chilled on the front porch in my rocking chair reading cheesy romance books and watching the crazies out in the storm. The dogs were highly entertained barking at everyone going by.

The 10 Coolest Superhero Cakes!

The bullet holes on the Punisher cake are awesome and it is possibly my favorite cake. That could be because I love the movie! Both Optimus Prime and Marvel in the City are my next favorites.

Candy Holidays
Need I say more and don't get me started on how the fudge store in Natchitoches was closed on National Fudge Day last year!

While I think this is a good effort it is missing my favorite BBQ place in the world. Marshall's BBQ located in Bryan, Texas. Marshalls has been in the same family for generations and makes the best ribs and potatoes salad in the world. I have never eaten anything there that was less than wonderful!

Fast and the Furious 4 Trailer
I love Vin Diesel! This could be a completely horrible movie (I am crossing my fingers that it is not) and I would still go see it.

Puppies Everywhere

It seems everyone is getting puppies right now. It must be that time of year I guess. My friend got a basset hound for his girls who is adorable and named Daisy. Then Kevin at work got a Labrador Retriever and named her Lily. And when I got to Tennessee Stacey had two puppies at her house named Beluga and Cheyenne.

I added a new website to my favorites! Urban Dictionary is awesome and I am pretty sure I have Traffic Tourettes.

There was also a random story today on our intranet home page at work. "Urinetown brings new patrons to San Pedro " I don't know what Urinetown is, but I clicked on it trying to learn more. From my 2 seconds scanning the story I think it is a play that way purposely named Urinetown. Although, I am still not sure why. I like the name so much I tried to use it as much as possible in the post. Viva la Urinetown!

Windows!

I have actually accomplished something on my house. Before the summer I worked hard on getting all the windows in my living room operable. This work started when my crazy dog Ozwald decided it would be fun to bust out two panes and jump out one. It is about a 6 foot drop to the ground, but he was only a little cut up from the broken glass. It did not seem to phase him as he then had the opportunity to run around the neighborhood. The windows looked like this:
But now after hours of stripping, replacing broken panes (the two Oz broke and one I broke), tearing off the trim, replacing the sash cords, and rehanging the weights they are all operable! They need a little more work, but it is nice to actually have one thing accomplished.

I Love Animal Babies!

I was checking out the story of the golden retriever that adopted three tiger cubs and linked to a slide show on zoo babies. The panda babies are kinda creepy looking, but the gray wolf puppies are adorable. The puppies have a blog devoted to them that has lots of video.

Put a Banana in Your Ear

I think I have made everyone I know watch Charlie the Unicorn which I is ridiculous. It is so stupid and annoying that it is great. A couple of friends kept asking if I watched the 2nd part where he goes to New York. I finally went and looked for it today, but it was done so poorly that I knew it was just a crappy cartoon. However, I did manage to find a 2nd part from the same people that posted the original. It was just as ridiculous as the 1st one and has more great sayings! Everyone should go check out Charlie the Unicorn 2!

Last week I was in NOLA for a limewash demonstration with the University of Florida Field School Students. I had a great time and I think we accomplished a lot of work. Here are a few photos I pulled out the something like 6 hundred that I took in the 3 days I was there!

I Love this Cover

I love Cory Morrow and enjoy the song when I hear him singing it, but this cover by Patrick Davis is awesome! I am searching the web trying a copy of him singing the song for my ipod, but haven't found one yet. I will just have to keep replaying the video. Awesome is all I can say about it.

Secret Language of Cocktails

Your cocktail says something about you.

Here is a sampling for a couple of my friends!

More Stuff

Photosynthesis - I looked through a couple of albums and there are sorta photographers favorites that they explain in the caption. Really interesting photos of some of the big name/iconic musicians of the last couple decades. I have been a very busy girl

It seems like the last couple weeks I have been out of town more than in. My crazy schedule has led to me not updating this thing like a good little girl. Please no one slap me on the hand.

Anyway, for July 4th I went to Pensacola for my cousin Phil's wedding. It was on the beach and very beautiful. It was also great to see some of my family as I usually skip these types of things. I also got to meet my cousin Luke's new bride. For some crazy reason everyone in my family is getting married this summer. I don't know what they are thinking!

Men on a Mission

If you haven't already purchased a calendar for 2008 (which I am sure everyone has done if they still use paper ones) or need an extra I recommend Men on a Mission. It is 12 Mormon guys recently returned from their missions posing topless. Who knew what they were hiding under those white button up shirts! I guess all that riding around on bicycles really helped them beef up. Apparently they are getting some flack from the Mormon modesty police.

10 Things You Can Like About $4 Gas

I thought this article "10 Things You Can Like About $4 Gas" on the Time Magazine website was very good. People driving less can lead to a reduced fatality rate and a 4 day work week! Yeah for saving live and working less days a week (even if that means the days are longer).

Citizenship Test and Notes

Could you pass the latest citizenship test? I am not very up to date on this type of info and sadly I scored a 55%. Meaning I would be sent back to wherever I came from because I know nothing about this country!

My friend Anna forwarded me a link to passive-aggressive notes which is pretty funny. I cannot lie and say I have never left one of these, but hopefully mine was not as bad as some of these.

I have some questions about Lil Wayne

" Lil Wayne sold a million copies of Tha Carter III its debut week, making him the first artist to pull off the feat since 50 Cent went platinum with The Massacre in a mere seven days in 2005.."

I don't really care about this. I like the song Lollipop and I haven't really listened to anything else from the new CD. However, his new album has caused some extra coverage of him that I thought was a little bit interesting. If you don't have cable like me you can catch his performance at BET Awards with T-Pain. I thought it was a little strange and he seemed out of it which could be for reason I won't name or due to his frequent drug use.

Wordle is Wordelicious

Came across Wordle mentioned in the Popcandy blog while browsing the internet today. I didn't really understand what they meant by word cloud so I had to go check it out. The first suggestions is to just put in a bunch of words in, like lyrics to a song. Since I am addicted to the Sugarland song "Stay" right now I googled the lyrics and with some copy and paste magic it was done! It was pretty cool and you can see the results of my hard work below ; )

My New Favorite Website

National Geographic Daily News

Who doesn't love the photos in Nat'l Geographic!? I also added a link to it in my Favorite Things Section.

New Lost Boys Movie

I am a little worried about the new Lost Boys Movie. I love the first one, still watch it today and own the soundtrack on CD. I probably also have the tape floating around somewhere! The new movie has one of the Coreys returning and then a bunch of new people. There is also a new version of Cry Little Sister that you can hear on the official website.

Bad Bar Songs

I vote for anything slow at the end of the night that inevitably brings you down. Living in Louisiana it is not like you are going to head to the bar and find you that special someone to take home at the end of the night every time you go to the bar. That only happens on special nights when someone has way to much alcohol and way to little sense. Most nights you are chilling at the bar having a good time with your friends when 12:30 rolls around (most places in the world that is when you start heading to the bar) and they start playing the slow music. It kinda takes everyone out of their happy place and makes them look around and realize how depressing everything is.

Some dude made up a list of 14 Songs You Should Never Play in a Bar that I for the most part agree with. His comments are pretty funny.

My Medicine

The new video "My Medicine" from Snoop Dogg is out and features appearances by several country stars. It is like some weird alternate dimension of country music. He is not really saying that much in the song, but the shots of him hanging out in the country are pretty funny.

Happy National Fudge Day!

I found out today by chance in a random work email that today is National Fudge Day! There is not a lot of information on the internet about this joyous holiday, but through some quick googling I confirmed it through some semi-legit websites. Candy USA! has a calendar devoted to candy holidays!

Kittie Update

The kittens are two weeks old and we are down to 6. Tigre killed 3 of the babies over the last week and there are various theories as to why she did this. It could possibly be just because she is crazy. A couple of them are spoken for, but several are still available for adoption.

Linda Torturing the Dogs

Linda spent the day at my house a couple of weeks ago and received untold hours of entertainment torturing the dogs. It was a good thing she had them to play with as I was working on the house that day and a little busy. Luckily they are good sports and put up with her bothering them. I think they like her because she usually has a little something left over from her last meal on her clothes!
